Expert in building, scaling, and operating large organizations around sales and go-to-market strategy.
Motivated by bringing out the best in people and helping them realize their fullest potential, the Sam Altman quote “Hard work compounds like interest, and the earlier you do it, the more time you have for the benefits to pay off” describes the philosophy that drives Spencer Scott. He is an accomplished sales, marketing, and operations executive who is sought after for his expertise in building, scaling, and operating large organizations around sales and go-to-market strategy.
A skilled and influential revenue and operations executive, Spencer has brought vision, perspective, keen financial and business acumen, and leadership to organizations experiencing stalled growth and market uncertainty and transformed them into highly profitable organizations.
Currently, Spencer is the Executive Vice President of North American Revenue for CarGurus, a Cambridge, Massachusetts-based automotive marketplace that leverages technology and data analytics to optimize the car shopping experience for car buyers and provides an advertising platform for car dealers across the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. In 2019, Scott was recruited to right-size their go-to-market strategy and systems as SVP of Revenue, Advertising, and Digital Marketing, with an immediate impact that led to his quick promotion to SVP of Revenue Strategy and Operations, where he grew the company’s revenue to over $2 billion, earning him a promotion to the company’s executive leadership team in 2020.
From 2017 to 2019, Spencer served as Head of Revenue and Media Platforms for Publishers Clearing House, where he owned all aspects of sales, account management, business development, and operations for their advertising business and led the transition from traditional e-commerce to a digital gaming business, a legacy that became the core focus of the company’s long-term strategy and business plan.
In 2012, Spencer joined Fiksu DSP as Chief Revenue Officer, where, as a key member of the executive team, he established sales, marketing and revenue strategies for increasing annual sales revenues to $120 million in his first two years in the role. Under his leadership he opened international offices in London, Helsinki, Berlin, Singapore, Seoul, and Tokyo, and expanded domestic field operations in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago. In 2016, Spencer was named the CEO of the consumer-facing business of the new entity, FreeMyApps, formed after Fiksu DSP split into two independent companies.
Spencer’s early career roles include Chief Revenue Officer and Board Member at OneScreen from 2009 to 2012, and Chief Revenue Officer at Adverplex from 2006 to 2009.
